Competition rules
Purpose of the Competition:
Sport Me Up is a business idea competition held from April 1 to 30, 2025, aimed at seeking new business ideas to promote physical activity and well-being in the Mehtimäki area. The competition is open to individuals, students, entrepreneurs, and sports clubs.
The competition seeks new business ideas and innovations that can lead to new or developing business activities in the fields of well-being and physical activity. The business idea submitted must support the development of business in the Mehtimäki area. Your idea can be:

a service that can be provided in Mehtimäki

a service concept that, for example, enhances the area’s event offerings
-
a product that serves the area’s users

another innovation
Evaluation Criteria
After the competition period ends, the jury will evaluate the business ideas based on the following criteria:

Innovation and Creativity – How new and unique is the idea?

Practical Feasibility – Can the idea be realistically implemented?

Market Potential – Does the idea have the potential to grow into a profitable business in Mehtimäki?
Confidentiality & Intellectual Property

All submitted ideas will be treated confidentially at all stages of the competition.

The competition jury will not share participants’ personal or business idea details outside the jury.

The winning idea and its creator will be publicly announced.

Participants retain ownership of their business ideas and intellectual property.

Participants are responsible for any necessary intellectual property protections (e.g., patents).
Participation criteria and terms

You can participate individually or as a team.
-
Each participant can submit up to three ideas.
-
AI tools can be used for brainstorming, but the submitted idea must be the participant’s own original work.

Participation requires filling out and submitting the application form between April 1 and April 30, 2025.

Participants can attach files to their business idea presentation. The allowed file formats are: Excel (.xls, .xlsx, .csv), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), Word documents (.doc, .docx), PDF (.pdf), other text files (.txt, .rtf, .log), image files (.jpeg, .jpg, .gif, .png), audio (.mp3, .wav), video (.mkv, .mp4, .mpeg, .avi, .mov), and compressed files (.zip, .rar).

The competition can be entered in Finnish or English.

The business idea must comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Jury & Decision-making

Members of the competition jury or their family members are not allowed to participate in the competition.

The organizers of the competition reserve the right to withhold awarding the prize if the jury believes that the participants' business ideas do not meet the evaluation criteria.

The decisions of the competition jury are final and cannot be appealed.
Other terms

The Mehtimäki Wellbeing and Sports Testing Center – New Business, Services, and Entrepreneurship Project and Business Joensuu are not responsible if the participant infringes on someone else's intellectual property rights.
How to Enter the Competition?

The form can be filled out in Finnish or English.

The form cannot be edited after submission.

Winner Announcement

The winner will be announced and awarded during Week 22 in May 2025!

The best business idea will receive a €3,500 cash prize.

Competition Timeline
